THIS IS REAL CLIMATE ACTION
Recent winners of the 2025 National Climate Action Award, Food Forests Ireland CLG is a not-for-profit, environmental, education and training organisation.
Registered as a charity in March 2023, Food Forests Ireland CLG's Education Programmes promote the use of sustainable practices to create vibrant spaces that strengthen local food systems, enhance biodiversity, and promote long-term environmental stewardship.

Our Mission
Food Forests Ireland CLG plants food forests - our 'Call To Action' - with School, Community and Business groups as part of a series of bespoke educational programmes helping build food system resilience throughout the island of Ireland and beyond.
Collaborating with a wide-ranging group of local, national, and international partners is a key facet of Food Forests Ireland CLG work, enabling people to restore ecosystems and take real climate action. A selection of collaborators to date includes; Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, Munster Technological University, Horizon Europe, primary and secondary schools, local environmental groups and county councils.
Our Goal
To make food forests a living example of sustainability in Irish schools, communities and businesses.
At Food Forests Ireland CLG, our work supports Ireland’s Climate Action Plan (2024), the European Green Deal, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals by: restoring biodiversity, improving soil health, and strengthening local economies.
Education and Training
Education is at the heart of Food Forests Ireland CLG's work. We bring our food forest educational programmes to schools, communities, and workplaces, helping people learn about biodiversity, climate action, and sustainable living through real-world, hands-on learning.
Our Education Programmes include:
• Curriculum-linked school projects
• Teacher and volunteer training
• Workshops for communities and businesses
Food Forests Ireland CLG programmes empower young people and adults alike to become stewards of the land and leaders in climate resilience.

Why We Are Circular by Nature
Nature is circular. In healthy ecosystems, nutrients cycle, nothing is wasted, and life regenerates. Our food forests follow these principles — restoring soil health, producing food, supporting biodiversity, and creating local circular economies. We teach communities to work with nature, not against it.
Being circular by nature means closing loops, regenerating the land, and building lasting systems where people and planet can thrive together.
Growing Together Across Ireland
Food Forests Ireland CLG works with schools, community groups, universities, and businesses across Ireland to create thriving food forests and education hubs.
