THIS IS REAL CLIMATE ACTION
Recent winners of the 2025 National Climate Action Award, Food Forests Ireland (FFI) CLG is a not-for-profit, educational organisation. Incorporated as a legal entity in 2018, FFI was registered as a charity in March 2023.
Our Vision
To cultivate resilient, sustainable, and equitable food systems across Ireland through our Food Forest School & Community Education Programmes, enhancing the environmental, economic, and social fabric of local areas. By planting the future today, Food Forests Ireland CLG aims to build a society where nature, people, and local food systems thrive in harmony.
Our Mission
Food Forests Ireland CLG plants food forests with School and Community groups as part of a series of bespoke, systems-designed educational programmes to help build national food system resilience. Collaboration with a wide-ranging group of local, national, and international partners is a key facet of FFI.

Education and Training
Education is at the heart of Food Forests Ireland CLG's work.
We bring our Food Forest Education Programmes to schools and communities along Ireland's infrastructural routes, helping groups learn about biodiversity, climate action, and sustainable living through real-world, hands-on learning.
Our most recent programme is the Infrastructure Enabled Edible Landscape (IEEL). The pilot IEEL Community Food-Forest Programme began in Westport, was awarded the National Climate Action Award by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment and is expanding to towns and villages along the Great Western Greenway (GWG). Stakeholder engagement is also underway in towns and communities along the Royal Canal Greenway for IEEL continuation before a full national IEEL Greenway rollout.
Food Forests Ireland CLG - Education Programmes includes:
• FFI curriculum-linked Primary School Programme
• Food-Forest Design Workshops
FFI's programmes empower young people and adults alike to become stewards of the land and leaders in food system resilience.

Why We Are Circular by Nature
Nature is circular. In healthy ecosystems, nutrients cycle, nothing is wasted, and life regenerates. Our food forests follow these principles — restoring soil health, producing food, supporting biodiversity, and creating local circular economies. We teach communities to work with nature, not against it.
Being circular by nature means closing loops, regenerating the land, and building lasting systems where people and planet can thrive together.
Growing Together Across Ireland
Food Forests Ireland CLG works with schools, community groups, universities, and businesses across Ireland to create thriving food forests and education hubs.
